While the rest of the market argues whether $120 will hit $150, he raises a far more fundamental issue: this is simply the wrong barrel of oil. Light-sweet WTI cannot substitute for Middle Eastern medium-heavy sour crude. This is not an imbalance a price signal can fix; it is a hard constraint dictated by steel and chemical reactions. He brilliantly connects the Asian steam crackers' reliance on LNG process heat to the Qatari disruption: the naphtha doesn't just become cheap—it physically loses its outlet. This closed-loop thermodynamic argument is entirely absent from all mainstream analysis today.

The Gulf Coast export infrastructure (pipelines and draft-limited ports) maxes out at roughly 4M to 5M bpd. If US domestic refineries reject more than the surplus capacity of that export valve due to the "Naphtha Clot," the backlog instantly reverses toward Cushing.
